Scope of Services
A Phytosanitary Certificate (PC) is an official document issued by an exporting country's agricultural authority to verify that plants, plant products, or other regulated items have been inspected and meet the strict health and safety requirements of the importing country.
Purpose and Function
Ensures Safety: It certifies that the cargo is free from quarantine pests and conforms to the phytosanitary regulations of the destination country.
Mandatory for Trade: It is a standard requirement under the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) for most agricultural and forestry products.
The Export Process
If you are exporting from Indonesia, obtaining this certificate involves the following steps:
Prepare Documents: Gather your commercial invoice, packing list, and any required treatment certificates (like fumigation).
Apply for Inspection: File a request for quarantine inspection through the Indonesian agricultural quarantine authority (Badan Karantina Nasional).
Inspection and Treatment: Officials will physically inspect the goods to ensure they are healthy, clean, and pest-free.
Certificate Issuance: Once passed, the authority issues the physical and/or electronic Phytosanitary Certificate to accompany your shipment.
The Import Process
If you are importing regulated goods into Indonesia, the process shifts slightly:
You must ensure the exporting party provides a valid Phytosanitary Certificate issued by their respective National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO).
All incoming shipments are subject to re-inspection by Indonesian authorities upon arrival to verify the cargo matches the provided certificate
Verification: If you need to check the validity of an Indonesian-issued certificate, it can be verified through the Barantan official verification portal.
